dia de los muertos festival poster

 Dallas Dia de Los Muertos is a local organization that holds an annual festival and parade, whose mission is, “to honor the past, as we celebrate the living”. This poster is meant to illustrate the traditions of Dia de Muertos in a less obvious way than the ever present sugar skulls and mariachi uniforms. The idea was to present the dancing women in a new way—a birds eye view—so that their skeleton bodies would be discovered, rather than just seen. At first glance, the poster may seem like simple flowers, representing marigolds and the like, but when one looks closer, the dead come to life.
